Pattern accuracy, not pattern approximation
A premium garment is decided at the pattern. Blocks drafted to a stated fit standard, corrected through fitting and graded with written rules — not a bought block adjusted by eye.
Internal structure specified per style
Interlinings, underlinings, stays and boning chosen for the specific cloth and silhouette. A factory that applies the same fusible to everything is not making premium product.
Fabric handled on its own terms
Needle, thread, tension, feed, pressing heat and cutting method set per material and tested before the first production unit.
Finishing that survives inspection
Hand-rolled hems, hand-felled linings, clean seam returns. The inside of the garment is the honest test and premium buyers know it.
Repeatability against a sealed sample
Premium means the two hundredth unit matches the one you approved. That requires a physical standard, written tolerances and inline checks — not goodwill.
Ask to see the inside of something they made.
Photographs of finished garments prove very little. Ask for a garment turned inside out: seam finishes, lining attachment, the way support layers are secured, how a closure is reinforced.
Then ask how they would handle a specific problem in your cloth. A manufacturer who understands premium will answer with a method. One who does not will answer with reassurance.

A good fit
- Structured or hand-finished womenswear in low to medium volume.
- Brands that already know their fit standard, or want help establishing one.
- Programmes where the garment’s difficulty is the reason it sells.
Not a fit
- Single-construction basics where unit price is the only variable.
- Very high volume programmes with minimal hand work.
- Projects where the target price and the target quality cannot both be met.
